Part One
Part Two

Lyn woke wondering what time it was, fully aware that her alarm had not sounded. She rolled over to peer at the clock, startled to find that she was late, very late for the conference.

She jumped out of bed, hastily pulled an outfit out of the closet, and ran for the bathroom. She changed in a race and dragged a comb
through her raggled hair. Not much time for beauty this morning. Gonna have to do the bare minimum. She slapped on some light makeup and then came back to the room to grab her purse and room key. Moments later, she was running down the hall to the conference rooms, barely conscious of the amused looks as she passed.

It was only as she was rounding the corner to the room of the next presentation when she remembered Craig and became quite alarmed when she realized that he had not been in the room when she woke. She found it very odd that he had slipped away so quietly but had little time to wonder as she pushed through the convention goers to find a seat. Her fellow coworkers, spotting her, waved Lyn over to a free seat among them. She was able to fend off the questions about her lateness by the presenter taking stage. Lyn knew that even to begin answering questions would make it near impossible to avoid the subject of Craig.

An hour later, the session let out and all the attendees resembled cattle going down the one escalator to the luncheon. Lyn was in a daze, having spent much of the last hour ruminating over the previous night’s events. Her lips felt bruised from the activity, and her ever-the-guilty-conscious was putting her through the rack over betraying her fiancé. Granted, she had never been as drawn to him as she had with Craig, but it was a betrayal and that she could not stand.

The conversation of two women in front of her brought her out of her thoughts.

“I can’t believe that we are going to get to meet him. I’ve always found him so sexy!”

“Oh I know. I wouldn’t kick him out of bed. Did you ever have a chance to catch him on his new show?”

“You mean the late show? No, it’s on way to late for me.”

Lyn leaned forward to interrupt the ladies, “I’m sorry for butting in, but you wouldn’t happen to be talking about Craig Ferguson would you?”

One of the ladies turned with a smile, “Actually yes. Do you know of him?”

Lyn smiled and blushed, “Well I do. Happened to catch the late show last night. It’s quite funny…oh and for the record, I wouldn’t kick him out of bed either. But you said you were going to meet him?”

The other lady laughed, “Yes! And you will too, he’s the guest speaker at the lunch.”

Lyn’s mouth dropped open, “At this lunch? Today?

Both women laughed and said yes. Lyn’s mind whirled. How the hell am I going to keep my composure for that?

Lyn came to the doors of where lunch was to be held and almost had to drag herself to enter. She scanned the sea of tables for
her group, simultaneously looking out for Craig as well. She found both within 10 feet of each other and she felt all the blood drain from her face. Slowly, Lyn forced her feet to follow one after the other and began inching closer to group. Reaching the table, Lyn dropped her bags and felt along for an empty seat. She busied herself going through her purse, not daring to look up with fear that she would catch Craig’s eye. She knew that if she did, that the pull between them would be back and …and well we know how that ends up.

When she felt the tap on her shoulder, Lyn didn’t even want to look up at first to see who had found her. Carefully, she turned
her head, making sure to keep her facial expressions in check. Lyn relaxed when she saw that it was just a fellow coworker, but then froze as her eye caught Craig’s just a few feet away. She watched as Craig excused himself from his conversation and begin to walk towards her. Lyn smiled at him, as he approached, but that smile dissolved as he passed right by her without a wave or reaction.

“Lyn? Did you hear what I said?”

Lyn shifted her gaze from Craig’s departing figure, “What? Oh I’m sorry, I just got
distracted. What were you saying?”

“I was asking what happened to you this morning, we waited for you at breakfast and
then you never showed up.”

Lyn blushed, “Oh, …my alarm didn’t go off and I woke up late. And silly me forgot to get a wake up call.”

“Oh. Well, we were worried for a bit and wondered what happened to you.”

“Sorry, I’ll try to not let it happen again. It was just a long night.”

“Yes, just long.”

Lyn startled when she heard the Craig’s laugh behind her.

“Lyn you okay?” her coworker asked.“You seem pale.”

Lyn struggled to regain her composure, “Yes…uhm…will you excuse me for a moment. I think I need some air.”

Lyn rushed out of the room, not even bothering to look around for Craig. She had to get control or she’d be a nervous wreck all day. She walked quickly to the other side of the building, throwing open the doors to the street, and plopped down on the stoop fumbling for her cigarettes. How am I going to get through this? And what’s up with him not even noticing me? I was right in front of him. I feel like such a fool! Lyn was too busy
beating herself up to notice someone exit the doors behind her and practically jumped off the stoop when she heard him speak.

“Lyn? Are you ok?”

“Craig? I’m fine….how are you?”

“I’m fine. But you don’t look too well.”

“Oh don’t worry about it, I’ll be fine.”

“I thought you said that you were fine.”

Lyn blushed, “I am, I mean I will be…I’m fine, ok?”

“Well, alright,” Craig shuffled his feet, “uhm…Hey, I wanted you to know that they found a room for me tonight, so you won’t be bothered by me anymore.”

“Oh! Oh, well….ok…that’s good. So I guess..That’s it?”

“To be honest, I didn’t know. Do you want it to be “it”?”

“Well, I mean, I know it would be for the best, I guess. Wouldn’t it?”

“Depends on what you mean by “for the best”.”

Lyn didn’t say anything, just walked closer to Craig.

"Is this what you want Lyn?”

Lyn stared at his lips, “I just want everything to be normal again. And I don’t want to get hurt.”

“I won’t hurt you.”

“You don’t know that, besides if I keep up with you, it will hurt others.”

“But not us. When’s the last time you did something because you wanted to? What does your heart say?”

Lyn laughed bitterly, “What do you think it says? It says that I don’t want to hurt Mark, and I don’t want to hurt you. It says that I don’t want people to think badly about me. It says that I need to think about what’s going to happen when you leave for the big city and leave me here to pick up the pieces. It says I don’t want the pain of losing, but I don’t want to think about going through life never getting to feel about anyone the way I feel toward you. It says that I want to kiss you but I want to run away at the same time. What the hell am I supposed to do Craig? Just what?”

“Then see me. See me tonight. See me tomorrow.”

“But Mark...”

“Do you feel this way with Mark, the way you feel when I’m with you, the way you feel when I touch you,” his voice lowered to a whisper, “the way you feel when I’m inside you?”

Lyn shook her head, “No, never.”

“Then see me.”

“I want to….”

“Then see me.”

“Craig…,” it came out more a moan than a word.

“Kiss me.”

Lyn slid her hands up to his head, pulling him down to her mouth, her weight falling into his chest.I guess it’s decided then. They pulled away all too soon, but knew that their time was short before Craig would be missed. Together they returned back towards the luncheon, but Lyn stopped Craig short of entering the room.

“Wait! Craig?”

He turned, eyebrows arched in question.

“Promise me that no one will know, my coworkers, or anyone. Please? I’m just not ready for that yet.”

“I promise.”

Craig had rocked the luncheon. Barely five minutes into his act, he had the place rolling. He felt on top of his game, like the old days when he had first met his second wife. Being happy had something to do with it, he supposed, but having a rousing love affair couldn’t hurt either. He tried his best to involve all the audience but found himself looking down at Lyn often. If nothing else, playing off of her made him great because he wanted to
make her laugh the most.

Immediately after the performance, Craig found himself swamped by a little queue of fans. He chatted and flirted, signing brochures and posing for pictures. To his surprise, he found Lyn among the throng.

“Would you mind if I got your autograph Mr. Ferguson, I’m your biggest fan,” Lyn said devilishly.

Craig flashed his patented grin, “I’d be happy to as long as I can get yours as well.”

Lyn laughed.

“Can I get a hug too or would that be too much to ask?”

Craig chuckled, oh you naughty girl,“Sure!”

When he pulled her close, he whispered in her ear, “Tonight, third floor lobby, 7 o’clock.”

Lyn pulled away and nodded, before Craig was taken up again by the next fan. Craig tried to watch her walking away over the heads of the other ladies, but soon lost sight of her. He made a mental note to check out her “precious cargo” the next time she walked away from him.

A few hours later, Craig sat nervously in the third floor lobby, watching his watch, and trying to avoid looking over at the bar. He couldn’t remember the last time that he wanted a drink as badly as he did tonight. He had thought about kissing her and holding her all day. The thought of her mouth on him had distracted him to the point of insanity earlier when he was trying to get through his business call with his agent. He cut that call short with the promise to head back as early as possible the next day, although that was not a promise that he intended to keep.

Finally Craig’s attention was drawn to Lyn’s figure walking through the entrance. He felt his body flush with heat and he got up to greet her, kissing her softly on the cheek. Lyn smiled sweetly at him and then asked if he would mind if she got a drink first. Craig hesitated, but then offered to go get her one. She accepted and told him to make it a vodka tonic, no ice.

Craig pushed his shaky legs up to the bar, unreasonable jittery at her request. He ordered a drink for her and a coke for himself, leaning on the bar.He peered over his shoulder at her, and was amused to find her eyes roaming hungrily over his body. He turned his attention to the bartender with the drinks, paid, and turned to go back. Lyn sat up to help him set the drinks on the table. She immediately brought her own to her lips and swallowed a large gulp and then sighed.

She looked up at Craig with a laugh, “I don’t normally drink that often, but it seemed like I needed it tonight.”

“I know what you mean. I’ve been sober for 13 years and even I thought about one tonight.”

Lyn paled, “Oh, I had no idea. If this is awkward for you, I don’t have to drink.”

Craig waved her on, “No, no. I’m fine with it. As long as I’m not the only sober one by the end of the night, I’ll be ok.”

“Well I can assure you that I’m not going to get anywhere near drunk…unless we’re talking about sexual intoxication.”

“My my, what a cheeky one you are tonight.”

“I can’t seem to help it when I’m around you, Mr. Ferguson. I guess you bring the cheekiness out in me.”

“So what are your plans tonight, Ms. Uh…I just realized that you never told me your last name.”

“Oh! Well now I feel bad, here we know each other…quite well…and you don’t even know my name. It’s Walker, Gwendolyn Walker.”

“Quite pretty. Walker. I believe that’s English, yes?”

“I suppose, my ancestry makes me quite a bit of a mutt, to be honest.”

“Oh? What is it?”

Lyn put her drink down, counting off on her fingers, “Well let’s see, there’s English, Irish, Polish, German, a wee bit of Scottish, and Cherokee.”

Chuckling, Craig said, “That’s quite a mix, and Cherokee as well. Very impressive.”</p>

“Not particularly. It seems almost every person you meet in Kentucky is part Cherokee in some way but at least they’ve actually tracked down where
mine is in the line of ancestry.”

“Yes, she was my great times ten grandmother. I’m from the bastard line of George Roger Clark’s brother when he got together with a Cherokee woman.”

Craig laughed, “Well at least you know. Let’s see, George Roger Clark, the explorer?”

"Yes, that’s right. He actually explored a lot of Kentucky, including founding the city we are in now.”

“So a line of history for you then.”

“It appears so.”

They just smiled at each other goofily. Craig moved first, taking their drinks and setting them aside, before moving onto the table in front of her. He took her hands in his and looked up at her.

“Do you want to get out of here? Spend a little time alone?”

Lyn agreed, and they exited stealthily out of the lobby. Craig led her out of the hotel, and towards the river. Lyn raised a questioning eyebrow, but
followed along, grabbing his hand as they walked. About halfway down the path, a man stood up and came towards them.

“Mr. Ferguson?”

“Yes that’s me.”

“Follow me sir, we have everything set up.”

Lyn looked at Craig curiously, “What’s this about? Where are we going? What have you been up to?”

“You’ll see soon enough.”

He had always had a love affair with water and boating, and having watched Lyn peering through the electrical lines and transformer just to see that one little patch of the river last night, he had a feeling that she would enjoy what he had managed to arrange. He had found a small riverboat that had
agreed to let him rent out the entire night, with arranged music and catering. Surely there could be little that was more personal or romantic than their own private boat.

Their escort led them to the boat, appearing much larger than Craig had
envisioned.Lyn’s eyes widened with delight and surprise, and she turned to Craig and gave him a giant hug.

“I’ve always wanted to go on out on the river when I was here! Thank you Craig!”

He smiled down at her pulling her in close for a squeeze, “You’re welcome, I thought you’d enjoy it.”

They walked across the ramp into the boat, coming to a gorgeous candlelit table laid out for dinner.

“Oh, Craig,” Lyn said with awe, “it’s beautiful. Did you arrange all of this just for us?”

“No,” Craig said softly, “I arranged it all for you.”

Lyn turned slowly and caressed his face with her hand.

"How can I be this lucky?”

They settled down for dinner, and Craig found himself overwhelmed by her beauty in the candle glow. The light danced warmly off her exposed skin, giving her an amber glow, and her eyes darkened to onyx, peering up at him through her short red hair. He was barely conscious of the food passing through his lips and hardly noticed when it was finished.

He took her hand and led her up to the top of the deck, to watch the river and city lights. Lyn leaned back into his arms, swaying with the movement of the boat while he held onto the railing in front of them. Craig pushed her hair away from her neck with his nose, nuzzling the curve of her neck. The scent of her perfume intoxicated him, and made him feel warm and safe. Lyn rubbed her hands up his legs, clearly enjoying his nuzzling. With the exception of the birth of his son, Craig did not think that he had ever felt more content or serene.

Lyn sighed.

Craig whispered into her ear, “Something wrong, my deario?”

“No, it’s all perfect, the boat, the dinner, the waves, you….I don’t think I’ve ever felt more beautiful.”

“Nor do I think that I’ve ever seen anyone so beautiful.”

Lyn turned, leaning against the railing, “Why did you do this?”

“Well, I thought you’d like it. You kept standing on that silly chair looking out at the river. It just seemed like a place you wanted to be.”

She shook her head with amazement, “Unbelievable. I don’t think that anyone has ever paid that much attention before. Why are you so nice to me?”

Craig was stumped by that question. How could he answer something that was so complex and yet a mystery to even himself?

“I just wanted to do something that you would always remember; something special from me to you.”
“Well I’m impressed and touched. I wish I never had to go back.”

Craig laughed, “Alas, my bank account can’t sustain that.”

Lyn looked down with a sad smile, “No that’s not what I meant. I meant that I wished that this never had to end, that we didn’t have to end.”

Concerned, “What makes you think that it will?”

“Well, won’t it? When are you going back to LA?”

“I’m supposed to go back tomorrow.”

“Oh, sooner than I thought…..well, then tomorrow then. Tomorrow it ends.”

“It doesn’t have to. You could…”<

Lyn interrupted with a bitter laugh, “Yes, what could I do? Move to LA? Leave everything and everyone I know for a man whom I’ve known for less than 24 hours?”

Sensing the look on Craig’s face, Lyn softened her tone, “Craig, I want to be realistic here. There will be an end. If not now, then eventually.  I hate to use a cliché, but have you ever been in a relationship that didn’t end?”

“Lyn, I don’t care about that. It doesn’t have to end. I will come for you or you will come for me. We’re bonded now, and I’m not going to lose that.”

“I don’t want to loose it either. Promise me then, tell me it’s not going to end, that you’ll figure out some way.”

“Promise me.”

“I promise, I promise I’ll figure out some way.”

“Good. Now, tell me when I can get you really alone because I don’t think that I can wait too much longer to make love to you.”

Craig laughed and motioned to the crew to turn the boat around.

It will be just a little while longer, and then I’m all yours.”

The walk up to Craig’s room had been fraught with stealth, with Lyn and Craig narrowly avoided her coworkers that were just going out for a night of debauchery. They hid behind potted plants and a travel brochure stand until they were just out of sight, they bolted for the elevators. As soon as the door swished close, Lyn pushed Craig against the elevator wall and sucked his bottom lip into her mouth, pressing up against him. Craig pulled up her skirt, holding tight to the curves of her bottom, rotating his heat against her. When the door opened onto his floor, they peered around the corner and then walked quickly to Craig’s room. Craig pulled her hand, urging her along, anxious to get her into the room alone.

The door barely shut before he picked her up and tossed her onto the bed with urgency. Lyn let out a yelp as Craig pounced on top of her, rolling them around on the bed, jousting for position.

“Wait, wait. Don’t rip my dress. Hold on big boy. Let’s get undressed first!”

Craig laughed, “Okay. But let me warn you, I have something planned for you.”

Lyn shimmied out of her dress, “Oooooh, sounds exciting.”

Craig waited for Lyn to lay back onto the bed before he started his own little striptease for her. Lyn sat up, leaning back on her hands urging him on with catcalls and giggles. When he was naked and presented before her, Craig grabbed the TV remote and turned with flair, tuning the channel to his
show that was just coming on.

“Now what are you doing? I thought you were going to give me a show, not make me watch your show?”

“Oh you’ll have your show alright, but baby, I want to make to make love to you the whole time it’s on, and when I say goodnight I want to make you cum harder than you’ve ever cum before.”

“Now that sounds like a challenge and I’m always up for challenges.”

Craig waggled his eyebrows at her comically and then leapt onto the bed on top of her. Lyn squealed but soon began moaning as Craig once again showcased his talent of tonguing her into ecstasy. His tongue and hands seemed to be everywhere at once, leaving no part of her body unattended.
Lyn tried to reciprocate but Craig’s work was too intoxicating.

He flipped her over onto her stomach, and pushed her legs to a kneeling position displaying her ass beautifully.Craig licked down her back, over the gentle curve of her bottom, before running his hands up her legs to part her sensitive folds up to his attention. He settled back to his work, running his
tongue between her lips and up to the rosebud of her ass. Lyn moaned into the pillows, pushing back against his touch. He always kept her to just the point of orgasm before changing his course and letting the flames die down until he heard her whisper, “More. Give me more.”

He changed his position, coming up behind her, before pushing his cock deep into her now drenched folds. He held himself there just a minute before pulling slowly out again. Lyn groaned in disappointment and pushed her backside up toward him. He slid back in, and increased his thrusting to her vocal encouragement. Reaching around to grab her swaying breast, he slammed into her, going deeper with each thrust.

Lyn was barely aware of anything happening anymore, so set on the brink of release. She moved her hips back and forth with his rhythm, stopping only to reach down to rub her clitoris in time with their movements. Craig sensed her urgency and began thrusting as fast as he could, building his own orgasm with hers. Lyn began shivering and felt the contractions begin deep in her belly. She threw back her head and yelled out. Craig reached up and pulled on her hair, wrapping his hand more firmly on her hip. He released deep within her, feeling her muscles wrapping around him in pleasure. Exhausted, they fell onto the bed just as the Craig on screen was waving goodnight to the audience.

Lyn looked over at Craig with a sated smile, “Looks like you got your wish.”

Craig leaned over and claimed her mouth for his own, “I always get my wishes.”

Lyn nodded and rested her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes happily.

Craig pushed the hair out of her face, and kissing her lightly on the head, whispered, “Goodnight baby.”
