*sigh* another day, another dol....oh wait, not working so not another dollar. Can I just say the job market sucks? Really, let's just take a moment to acknowledge the sad state of the job market when a college educated, experienced, and faithful worker such as myself puts out 30+ applications and can't even get an interview. What's even sadder is that I've even applied to fastfood jobs and Walmart, and still...nothing. It's like, what do I have to do to pimp myself out enough to get a job? My last resort is stealing the car for the day and just driving incessantly around the town looking for help wanted signs. Truly the least effective way of job hunting, I'd have to say. And my #1
method of gaining an interview/job is largely being taken away from me because of the employers. I had always found that if I followed up resumes/applications with a personal phonecall to the company, I landed 80% more interviews or offers. Nowadays, the employers often actually write in their ad "no phonecalls please". Now I know that is supposed to quell the number of calls they receive from job seekers about the position, but it also says to me that they most likely would not perceive my followup calls with the good intent with which they were placed. So what's a gal to do? I'll just keep plugging away, following up with the ones that I can, and make the most of it.
In other news, I've started putting some pictures in my gallery on here for all those that missed out on seeing pictures of my toddler tornado, and I'll be adding more in the next few days. The ones in there at the moment are mostly from his 11th and 12th months including the classic 1st birthday cake eating pictures. But as we are never without a camera in this house, I'm sure I can add some more recent ones. Plus if I ever get a free moment to myself, I hope to finish off a few artsy projects and post those too. So enjoy :) (and sidenote to sell, make a new lj layout, that child is years older than that...and icons? bitch please, you need some new ones)
